The cultural bonus for young people consists of a direct aid of 400 euros in a single payment that the Government will give to all those young people who turn 18 in the year 2022.
This money must be used for the acquisition and enjoyment of products, services and cultural activities and will be delivered to the young person through a virtual prepaid card.
The Royal Decree 210/2022 that regulates the Youth Cultural Bonus was approved in the Council of Ministers on March 22. In 2022, 454,591 young people will come of age, who are the ones who could apply for this bonus, which has a budget of 210 million euros.
This type of aid already exists in other European countries, such as Italy (500 euros) or France (300 euros) for young people when they turn 18. The objective is to bring young people closer to the world of culture and, incidentally, inject resources into this sector, which is one of the most affected by the health crisis.
When can the youth cultural bonus be applied for?
The management of the program will be carried out through a specific online technological platform, available on an official website, in which the applications will be submitted, which will be processed in order of presentation.
The Government has not yet launched the website for the request for the youth cultural voucher and it is expected to do so in the coming weeks, so that the voucher can begin to be used from June 2022.
(When the web is available, we will inform you through this guide of I Understand).
How are the 400 euros of the cultural bonus delivered?
Once the aid has been granted to the beneficiary, the total amount granted will be paid, in a single payment, in nominal virtual prepaid card format, which will be identified with a number and the identity of the beneficiary. With this card and from a mobile device (a smartphone, for example), payments can be made for the products purchased with the voucher (books, records, tickets, subscriptions, etc).
These prepaid cards will be valid during the 12 months following their granting. Exceptionally, a physical card may be issued if the beneficiary does not have a compatible mobile device to contain the aforementioned virtual card, when requested.
